Appointments to NAIF Board
Two new appointments to the board of the Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) have been announced by Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan.
The new directors are Kate George from Western Australia and Belinda Murphy from Queensland.
“I am very pleased that Kate George and Belinda Murphy will bring their experience and expertise to the NAIF board,” Minister Canavan said.
“Ms George has a legal background, and has extensive experience working in the resources industry, regional and Indigenous business, and infrastructure and asset management. Kate has also held a number of board positions and appointments.
“Her appointment to the board has commenced and will continue to 30 June 2021.
“Ms Murphy is the Mayor of McKinlay Shire in Queensland, and brings extensive understanding of how to attract and implement infrastructure projects in the north.
“Her appointment to the board will commence on 1 July 2019 and expire on 30 June 2021.
“I also welcome the reappointment of three board members – Karla Way-McPhail, Barry Coulter and Justin Mannolini – and look forward to their ongoing contributions.
“I also want to thank retiring director Bill Shannon for his valuable contribution to NAIF.
“Bill brought extensive experience of North Queensland and his efforts were a big reason for the success of the NAIF over the past year.”
Minister Canavan said NAIF is a central element of the Government’s agenda for developing the north.
“NAIF supports infrastructure that underpins economic and population growth in Northern Australia. The expert board is essential in guiding NAIF and ensuring it achieves its objectives.”
